Vladislav Ivanov

Artist's statement:
My name is Vladislav Dimitrov Ivanov and I live in Bulgaria. I make ceramic jewelry (earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets) as well as various small objects (tobacco pipes, jewelry boxes, decorative tiles, etc.) My inspiration comes from the prehistorical art, the traditional ceramics rooting in the art of the Aborigines, Indians, Celts, Vikings, etc. In my work I like to see the contrast between the primitive look and a quality realisation. I am a University graduate but I think that my knowledge that I acquired upon my own experience in the sphere of theory and practice of the ceramic technology are more valuable. From 1989 to 1994 during my studies I used the base of Veliko Turnovo University's workshops & studios. Of course, in the meantime and to the present day I've never stopped my own researches and experiments in my own home studio in the field of masses, glazes, shaping, design, trial firing at various temperatures, etc. In the period 1994-1998 I've worked as an apprentice in the studio of the famous Bulgarian craftsman Christo Ivanov from whom I've acquired traditional techniques and first-hand knowledge.
